hi all..i promised that i will write abt my Infy experience...here it is..(bit late though..sorry for that)...
The much anticipated job...much anticipated company....
yeh..i joined infy with lot of dreams, the company did not let me down...
Beautifulllll campus i ever saw(mind u i have attended few interviews)I was lucky that my first posting was in Bangalore the headQ of Infy...But i want to be in Chennai..that is a different story..
Lets come back to Infy Campus..Lush green meadows..Elegant structured buildings spaced well ,not crowding....artistically designed artificial ponds...Fountains...And the facilities here is superb..Good food courts(costly though..we will come to this later)Everything u want inside the campus...
And abt the training, many told abt the training to me that it is spectacular..very tight with lot of exams..but i was disappointed,no good teachers except for Java..poor course material...and not enough systems to work...
but the examm part was true,we had lot of exams..all online and again very controversial, that many got poor results even though writing the exam well...but i got the expected marks,i don't know what happened to others...
the living cost is very high here,as i said here to get reasonable food we have to pay very high price compared to Chennai..and the traffic in Hosur Road is a nightmare...it takes 20 min in morning form BTM(Where i stay) to Electronic City, but it takes 2 hrs in the evening!!!!
only thing here is that it is not Chennai..even though Chennai is hottest, sweaty and very crowded i like Chennai best...i don't like the Bangalore climate(!!)...
overall it was a 30-60% experience for me,30%-likable,60%-not...i have completed the training here successfully..i will post my placement details later..

I am back at SSN...
I came here to get my TC....
And when i entered the campus all my memories at SSN came rushing back...
The good old days which i enjoyed so much...my last possible student life....
SSN still had that lazy atmosphere and i think even if i come back years after SSN will be same as it is now...
This may be the last post which i post from my computer at my lab here at SSN...even leaving it makes me sad....
hope future makes me go places and meet good people as SSN did...
ALOHA SSN!!!(this will be final)

Ok first I will tell what so special about this post…
This is my 50th post!!!!!!
I have this habit of trying out anything new and after sometime
I will forget about it
When I first started this blog, I didn’t think it will come this far.
I thought that it will be one of many that I have tried out and not sticking
with it, because there is no one to read my blog, even my friends where not interested…
But the reason it has come this far is Suba, her constant encouragement and comments
in my blog has enabled me to go on and here I am, in my 50th post…
And next I will tell what the very special post…
Today is the Birthday of Suba…
HAPPY BIRTHDAY Suba!!!!
May this day bring joy and color into u’r life…

Yesterday 11 from my class went on a small trip to VGP..
It was fun from the beginning, and i enjoyed the trip very much.
Most of them stayed away from Fun Rides as they were afraid,
I and rakesh and siva went on all rides,
but the big surprise for me was lalitha's enthu. towards rides..
She went on all rides with the three of us,except children rides(he he).
We all had a very good splash at the beach, and there Thilaga gave us a big scare
when kavitha mam and i pushed her in the water, she lost her balance and she swallowed
lot of sea water and was coughing and spluttering around..
other then that it was a very good trip..

Jalagandeswarar Temple..
Vellore Fort..
A charming town(defn. for me), it is not my native place, but my family came to Vellore on 1989 and we are now settled at Vellore. I was studying 3rd std when we came to Vellore, i have little memory of my previous towns we stayed(Vandavasi,Arrakkonam), I can say i grew up in Vellore and i like Vellore like no other..
When I started to write this blog post about Vellore, i decided to do some little search on Google and some intresting articles about Vellore came up..
I think these articles describe Vellore as i wanted, so i will first reproduce a article on Vellore by Lalitha Sridhar named "Revisiting Vellore's hoary past"
on"The Hindu Business Line"
"Vellore is famous all right. If you can call it that. For years, it used to be called the place that had a raja illada kottai (fort with no king), daivam illada kovil (temple with no deity), thanni illada aaru (river with no water), maram illada malai (hills with no trees) and azhagu illada penngal (women with no beauty).
The distinguished lady who told me this was smiling a broad, and definitely, beautiful smile. That affectionate confidence also sums up the spirit of the city.
For those who have the time to look beyond the non-agrarian economy, the dried bed of the Palar river, the hustle and bustle so typical of India itself, there is a gem here waiting to be rediscovered.
A gem so prominent, that the city seems to have grown around it, reflecting its muted glow.
Granite burnished with age towers behind a moat shimmering with water. Immaculate lawns, flaming flowers and shady trees frame the picture. And a temple tower looms welcomingly beyond.
The ancient Vellore Fort and its Jalakanteswarar Temple seem to transcend time. The visitor has to remind himself that something so alive and so new is actually so old. The view from Vellore is past perfect.
Built during the Vijayanagara Empire around the 16th century, the Vellore Fort is now maintained by the Archaeological Survey of India. That something over 400 years old is kept in such excellent condition, notwithstanding our abysmal track record with our many heritage monuments, is something to wonder at. The Fort is known for its grand ramparts, its wide moat and its robust masonry.
Begin by visiting the Jalakanteswarar Temple. The lingam of Lord Shiva gets its name from the natural underground spring upon which it resides — possibly also the reason why the moat has never dried, no matter how severe a drought.
Legend has it that, fearing the Mughal invasion, the reigning ruler hid the deity to prevent destruction. Through the battles with the Adil Shahis of Bijapur worship ceased. But so well was the lingam protected that it was never found. And therefore the dubious sobriquet — the temple with no deity.
Eventually, post-independence, the locals consecrated the statues again and rituals resumed after a kumbhabishekam. The temple itself is now cared for by a trust.
The big, resplendent Ganeshas — straight ahead and to the right, as you enter — give you an idea of what to expect.
You are now in a shrine that really does place cleanliness next to Godliness.
At every sannidhi (multiple places of worship within a temple), the alankaram (decorative flowers and attire for the Gods) for the deities is aesthetically appealing. The area is swept clean and shining, polished brass is everywhere.
The Nandi (Shiva's favoured vaahana) and the dwarapalakas are obviously the original, ancient ones — the smoothened edges, worn with age, have not lessened their inspiring sculptures in any way.
Grimy oil patches, dried flowers, omnipresent cobwebs, wet floors and the odd cockroach — all of these are conspicuously absent.
Although the temple is small in relative terms, its upkeep is comparable to that of the enormous Brihadeeshwara Temple in Thanjavur.
To the left is an intricately carved granite mandapam (auditorium) with every pillar reflecting exquisite carvings. While tradition requires that you sit awhile at all Shiva temples, here one lingers also because it is difficult to leave.
Make an evening of it — that's the best time to take a walk along the ramparts of the fort. It will take an hour-and-a-half but it is well worth the time — rarely is a fort so accessible and remarkably intact.
A picnic on the lawns would make a nice end to a memorable day.
Vellore is genuinely famous for other things too — leading that list is the acclaimed Christian Medical College, known for its medical research and services.
The hilltop, stone-carved Vellamalai temple (about 18 km from Vellore) is also worth a visit.
The Yelagiri Hills (sometimes called the poor man's Ooty) are a couple of hours drive from the town.
However, it is the fort and its temple, which are bound to rest on the top of any tourist's suitcase of memories."
Now my turn..
The article mainly focus on the fort, but the most important thing about Vellore District is its Glorious Past and its important link to Struggle for Independence.
This is a small note on Vellore taken from Vellore District Webpage
"Vellore District had always been on the fore - front in the struggle for freedom. In fact the Sepoy Mutiny of 1806 A.D. that broke out inside the Vellore fort against the British authority is considered to be a prelude to the Great Revolt of 1857, which is often described by some historians as the first war of Independence."
Present day Vellore is known for its Educational Institutions, world famous Hospitals and well known industrial hubs..
Christian Medical College..
In past Vellore was known all over India because of this College/Hospital. It has its own history,CMC was started by Mrs. Scudder as a hospital for maternity care with 4 beds to admit patients , and now it has evolved into a multi-speciality hospital with more than 4000 beds for patients and is well know all over Asia.
Vellore Institute of Technology..
I can say that VIT has put Vellore on the World map, with its fantastic campus and students from all over the world, it has transformed Vellore into a mini-metropolitan. Started in 1984,it has come a long way and now it is grown such that it has overshadowed CMC and it is growing in a fast pace..
Voorhees College.. More than 150 years old and evergreen. Our former president Dr. RadhaKrishnan studied here. But today if u say u studied in Voorhees college,u will get a look u will never forget..(ah i forgot to tell u that it is a all-boys college)
Other noted industries around Vellore is BHEL-Ranipet,Thirumalai Chemical Ltd.,Ranipet,Other Leather industries situated around Walajapet,Ranipet,Ambur,Vanniyambadi..,Apollo Hospital(branch) ,Visharam.
And famous temples like Vallimalai,Sholingur,Kirupaananda Variyaar memorial and more..

Vellore, a place where u can experience extreme temperatures. In Summer the degree will rise sharply, the record reading is 45 degree Celsius, and in winter the record reading is 9 degree Celsius. Vellore is the hottest place in TamilNadu during Summer and the coldest place among the plain regions...
The above phenomenon is due to the fact that Vellore is surrounded by hills which are bare, with small vegetation and lot of rocks,in summer these rocks deflect the sunlight back to Vellore and because of this Vellore becomes a boiling couldron...
The above picture is from "The Hindu"...

Here is my First Article on Reverse-Engineering. I am going to write how I started with reverse-engineering as a complete newbie (u will come across this word a lot, if u venture out to reverse-engineering, it just means novice)
I assume that the reader have basic programming knowledge, and know basic Assembly language (just a little, for starters).
Ok first the Disclaimer: I am not responsible if you use whatever you learn for illegal purpose.
Now to get started u have to know some basic terminologies used in the reversing arena..
Note that here after u must think in Hex values, because all the data or the code we will reverse are going to be in HEX, because we are going to work with executables and we don’t have the source code for the target program.
Crackmes- A program, normally a username/serial type, which u are going to crack. The program may employ different methods to generate a serial for the given user name, u’r goal is to find the algorithm which is used to generate the serial, and write u’r own key generator.
Key Generator- After u reverse the serial generating algorithm ,u re-write the algorithm or rip it from the target program and write a program which will give the correct serial for the given username.
Patching- Patching is nothing but altering the Hex bytes in an executable are any other file. Usually we will patch a crackme such that it will say correct serial if u enter any serial for a given username.
PE Header- Present in all Windows Executable,it tells the OS how to load the exe and execute it. PE Header is a vast topic and a very important one,u must read about PE Headers at MSDN site or use Google to find the Paper by Icezlion or a more detailed and a very good paper by LUEVELSMEYER
Tools needed in our trade..
Debugger- Used to trace the target program line by line. I use OllyDbg, will be useful for beginners, because it is Ring 3 debugger, another powerful debugger is Softice by Numega ,but it is a Ring 0 debugger. I started with Softice though, but I recommend OllyDbg.
What is a Ring??
The architecture of the Intel x86 processor defines four privilege levels (known as rings). Windows uses privilege level 0 (or ring 0) for kernel-mode and privilege level 3 (or ring 3) for user-mode. The reason Windows uses only two levels is that some of the hardware architectures that were supported in the past (such as Compaq Alpha and Silicon Graphics MIPS) implemented only two privilege levels.
Disassembler- It is used to represent the exe files as a set of asm code. It is static when compared to a debugger which is dynamic one, meaning we can execute a asm statement in a debugger and not in a disassembler. W32Dasm is a famous disassembler,u can also use PVDasm, but I recommend IDA Pro which is a powerful disassembler with lot of features
Hex Editor- Used for modifying Target files. Hex Workshop is a good tool, Hiew is a better one.
Some program may be packed, which means modifying the PE Header or encrypting the PE header.such program cannot be debugged or disassembled
Other useful tools are ..
Resource Workshop by Borland to modify GUI windows attributes, PEid to check whether a program is packed and what compiler the program was compiled. And unpackers for packed binary executables.
Ok next register u’r self at Crackmes.de. Crackmes.de contains lots of crackmes to play around.
U can check my Profile at Crackmes.de, by searching for neo_theone,this is the name I have registered there, and I am revealing it here because I don’t do any illegal stuff and then who cares…
Next u must register u’r self at community.reverse-engineering.net, a forum where u can ask any doubts regarding programming, reversing or if u have any trouble cracking a crackme downloaded from Crackmes.de u can ask for help here.
Here I conclude my First Article(its not a article).Any way in coming days I will write about how to crack a example crackme.

Hi all,
I have decided to write some technical stuff here not much though.
But first a little background…
Many kids today actually grow up with computers, but I saw a computer only in my ninth or tenth standard (note the word “saw”).
When I entered 11th STD, my school bought 4 computers, and my class had 12 students. I think u could work out the maths: how many students must share a computer.
But I learned basic working of computers there including getting used to the mouse (!!!)..
And some programming in BASIC…
When I joined B.E. I was given a single system and I learned programming in C and C++.
I was introduced to Internet also at the same time, but I didn’t make use of the internet effectively. I created my first e-mail account only at my third year of my college (2001)!!
In my second year I got my own system in my home, I was overjoyed...
But still I didn’t do anything useful with the computer. I used the computer just to hear music or movies. What a waste…
But when I finished B.E. and not placed in any companies the whole scene changed.
I started hunting for jobs, but mostly I was in my home. At the time only I started looking for something interesting to do just to kill boredom.
For some time then, I was interested in Software Reverse-Engineering (Cracking /hacking), so I decided to learn some real stuff to do with my computer, I started to learn it…
I learned then, the power of Internet as a knowledge base and things u can learn just sitting in u’r home
I must say that I don’t liked to be called cracker or hacker but I am a knowledge seeker and not more
There is the case of ethics involved in my area of interest; I don’t want to go into that.
But what I practice is: improve u’r knowledge and respect other peoples work
India being a developing country, many people doesn’t have that kind of money to buy software; they tend to use illegal software’s instead. No one can stop it, not yet…
About Reverse-Engineering…
It is a fascinating area of computers; it is always exiting to break other people code…
Further reverse-engineering can help u improve the quality of u’r own code because u may find out a piece of code written in a way is not efficient or error prone, u can come out with a new way of writing the same code in a better way
I will try to explain the basics of software reverse-engineering in coming posts
